“CUTSCENES” option added to the Main Menu. Play any and all cutscenes.

“CODECS” option added to the Main Menu. Play all and any codec conversation scenes.

Menu option added to the CHAPTER Menu enabling user to play only the Boss battles.

“GRAPHIC OPTIONS” added to the OPTIONS Menu. Modify resolution, anti-aliasing, etc.

There is an option reading “ZANGEKI” that will modify the amount of cuts you can make.

Lossy VS Lossless

I don’t like lossy compression, but this game is a rare exception.

Game videos in PC version of MGRR have 1280×720 resolution, with a bitrate of 20-24 MBbit/second with 29.97 FPS.

That’s why I made an option for you to download much smaller archive with re-encoded videos.

They still look pretty good at bitrate of 6~8 MBit/sec while keeping the same resolution and proper 5.1 surround audio. You can download this sample and compare quality:

If you don’t like the quality of re-encoded files, get original ones. Remember – the choice is always yours, not mine 😉

There are several repacks of 8 GB+ floating around. They all have PC 720p videos replaced with Xbox 360 1024×576 ones, with even lower bitrate than my repack offers. Those, who tell you that Xbox 360 videos are 720p and PC’s are 1080p – are lying to you.

Selective Download

You can skip downloading of files you don’t need. Here is the list of selective files:

Game Description

Komaru Naegi, little sister to Makoto Naegi, has been imprisoned inside a mysterious apartment for over a year. Running the game with Japanese dub

For those, who wants to play the game with Japanese voiceovers/movies, I’ve included 3 modified EXE files – FFX-2_JP.exe, “FFX&X-2_Will_JP.exe”, FFX_JP.exe

You can run them manually if you want to switch between versions, or, if you’re planning to play with Japanese forever, just rename them to FFX-2.exe, “FFX&X-2_Will.exe” and FFX.exe respectively, overwriting original files. But make backup just in case.

Game Description
Half a year after the events of Trails in the Sky Second Chapter, Liberl has settled into peace once again—but even during peaceful times, there are many among the distinguished and fortunate burning with greed thanks to the influence of ancient artifacts.   • Based on Tales.Of.Berseria-CPY ISO release: cpy-tob.iso (14,722,529,280 bytes)
  • Game version: v1.48.00#193, 12 DLCs included (you have to activate them in game menu)
  • 100% Lossless & MD5 Perfect: all files are identical to originals after installation (when installed with Japanese audio and lossless videos)
  • NOTHING ripped, NOTHING re-encoded
  • Selective download feature: you can select the videos quality to download/install and can skip Japanese audio, if you don’t need it
  • Significantly smaller archive size (compressed from 13.7 to 5.7~10.7 GB, depending on selected components)
  • Installation takes 5-12 minutes (depending on your system and selected components)
  • After-install integrity check so you could make sure that everything installed properly

Selective & Optional Download

You can skip downloading of video/audio files you don’t need. Here is the list of such files:

  • setup-fitgirl-optional-japanese-voiceovers.bin (self-explaning)
  • setup-fitgirl-selective-videos-lossless.bin (get either this OR lossy version, you don’t need both)
  • setup-fitgirl-selective-videos-lossy.bin (get either this OR lossless version, you don’t need both)

In example, if you want to launch the game with Englis UI/Subtitles/Voiceovers and with re-encoded lossy videos – skip all selective/optional files,
but download setup-fitgirl-selective-videos-lossy.bin & all main files (01-03).

Lossless vs Lossy videos

As you know, I don’t like lossy repacking. This particular game is a rare exception. All game videos on PC are rendered in 1080p with 24fps. But actually the displayed framerate for many scenes varies from 7 to 15, which is typical for Japanese animation.

So, for those, who desperatly fights for every GB of traffic, I’ve made an optional lossy versions of those videos. Of course, they look crappy in some scenes compared to original – blocky, poor red color, artefacts on edges. But many people won’t see the difference or will cope with what they get for that small size.

As always, I don’t push you nor I make a choice for you.

Here is the example of re-encoded video, the opening cinematics, transcoded from original BINK2 1080p to BINK1 1080p format with reduced bitrate.

It’s an self-playing executable, so you can simply run and watch it, no codecs or players required.

Watch and decide if you need to spend additional 5 GBs for original videos or re-encoded videos would be enough.

If save files don't work for you

Open CPY.ini, located in game root witn any text editor
and set new custom path in string: SavePath=%DEFAULT_CPY_DIR%
In example: SavePath=C:TOB_Saves

Also make sure you have indexing turned ON and compression turned OFF for folder with saves.
Windows Search also must be active.
